The Chamber has formed the Forum of American Companies in Israel with a focus on assisting U.S. firms in doing business in Israel and enhancing their involvement in the local market. Currently 38 large U.S. companies operating in Israel participate in this Forum. The ad-hoc committees include:

  • Foreign Workers Taxation/Work Permits/Visas  - the committee addresses existing problems which U.S. multinationals face in obtaining work permits for experts. The committee's chairperson is Rami Guzman, Adamind.

  • Intellectual Property Rights - dealing with data exclusivity and trade barriers, which favor local industry. The goal of the committee is to assist in the adoption of western standards for IP in order to improve the environment for investment of U.S. companies, especially in Israeli knowledge-based ventures. The committee's chairperson is Barak Palatchi, Pfizer.

  • Technical Standards & Regulations - The committee's main objectives include:
    (i) to review the mechanism for adoption of international standards by ISI,
(ii) to conclude the means under which the committee could influence the decision to adopt U.S. standards as the prevailing standard or as one of two parallel standards, and
(iii) to review in this regard problems and related issues confronted by American companies and the manner in which the committee can assist them. The committee's chairperson is Yossi Ben Dror of Y. Ben Dror & Co.

Chamber Member companies that are fully owned subsidiaries of U.S. companies or American companies with a presence in Israel, interested in participating in the Forum activities/ad-hoc committees or in raising relevant issues, are requested to contact the Chamber, 03-6952341.
