Chamber Chairman, Mr. Nechemia (Chemi) Peres, will lead an Israeli economic delegation to Washington D.C., celebrating Israel's 60th Anniversary. The delegation will participate in a unique event on Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2008, planned by the Chamber and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
The delegation is also invited, by the America-Israel Friendship League, to an event, a day earlier, in New York. Further information – in the following link:

Past Events

Celebrating U.S. Independence June 30, 2008

The Chamber saluted the United States on its 232nd Anniversary of Independence and departed from The Hon. Richard Jones, outgoing U.S. Ambassador to Israel and Honorary Chairman of the Chamber, with hundreds of guests in attendance.

Chamber Chairman, Chemi Peres, greeted the participants and departed from Amb. Jones. The Ambassador said he places great importance in the fact that Israelis and Americans both know and proudly sing their respective national anthems. "We sing because we love our countries and still get excited by the words."

The keynote speaker was Hon. Dan Gillerman, Israeli outgoing Ambassador to the U.N. He said he was proud to represent Israel, a country characterized by creativity, beauty, trade, technology and excellence.

Participants included the Vice Chairman of the Chamber, Danny Ayalon; Irit Batat; Yossi Ben Dror; Avinoam Finkleman; Rami Guzman;

Seminar: Ethics in Times of Crisis
– June 10, 2008

The Chamber, with The Business Ethics Center of Jerusalem and The Association of Corporate Counsel ( Israel), held the latest in our series of seminars on ethics: Ethics in Times of Crisis at Leumi Bank in Tel Aviv. The seminar included case studies from Israel and the U.S.

Speakers included Erez Ezra, Legal Advisor of Hashmira Company; Shlomo Handel, Deputy CEO of Migdal Insurance; Eli Laniado, CEO of Laniado Communications; Dr. Asher Meir, Research Director, Business Ethics Center and Prof. Mark Schwartz, Professor of Management, Law and Ethics at York University of Toronto, Canada.



Chamber Hosts New Mexico Governor
- June 15, 2008

New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson, one of the closest people to Senator Barack Obama, Democratic Party candidate for the presidency of the U.S., was a guest of the Chamber, which held a luncheon in his honor, with the participation of leading Israeli businesspeople, including Yehuda Bronicki, Chairman and CTO of Ormat Systems; David Kolitz, Chairman of Elul Technologies; Prof. Yossi Gross; Dr. Judith Richter, CEO of Medinol; Ruth Alon, founder of Netvision; Arnold Goldman, Chairman of Luz2, Avi Brenmiller, President and CEO of Solel Solar Systems, and Ron Lubash, Managing Director of Markstone Capital Group.
Chairman of the Chamber, Chemi Peres, greeted the guests and emphasized the importance of U.S.-Israel political relations.
Vice Chairman of the Chamber, Danny Ayalon, a long-time friend of Gov. Richardson, greeted the governor and noted his special relation to Israel.

The governor noted that Israel was one of four countries with which New Mexico has strong and special relations, especially in the fields of alternative energy and water technology. The governor noted that some Israelis have taken to heart the negative campaigning against Barack Obama, and promised that Obama will be a great friend to Israel, as he demonstrated at the AIPAC Conference in June.
Sherwin Pomerantz, member of the Chairman Executive Committee and President of Atid EDI, which represents New Mexico in Israel, organized the visit. The governor is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding regarding economic cooperation treaty between the two countries.



Lecture: Former U.S. Ambassador to Israel
– June 25, 2008

Dozens of Israeli and foreign diplomats, and Chamber Members, participated in the lecture by former U.S. Ambassador to Israel, the Hon. Daniel C. Kurtzer, who discussed his new book, Negotiating Arab-Israeli Peace: American Leadership in the Middle East. The event took place at the The Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) in Tel Aviv.
Mr. Kurtzer analyzed the successes and failures of U.s administrations regarding the Arab-Israeli peace process in the last 30 years.
The event was moderated by Dr. Nimrod Novik. 

Israeli-Palestinian IT Seminar – July 8, 2008

The Chamber, together with USAID and PITA – Palestinian IT Association, organized a seminar, the first of its kind, at the Airport Center. Some 100 Palestinian and Israeli businessmen participated. Complete information – at the following link:

Fast-Track Visa to the U.S.

Please note – there is heavy traffic at the Embassy during the summer – please plan accordingly.
The Chamber assists its Members with a fast-track service for interviews for visas to the U.S. For information, contact the Chamber. 

Please note:

  • The service is designated only for business trips. The interview includes fingerprinting.
  • If your valid visa is inside an old passport, you can enter the U.S. presenting both passports.
  • The U.S. visa is valid until the expiration date. However, the Embassy recommends renewing the visa before the expiration date.
  • American citizens should note that renewing a passport takes 4-6 weeks.
  • The service includes a fee.

 

Chamber Boardroom

The Chamber is providing its Members, at a symbolic price, its boardroom on the 8th floor in the America House in Tel Aviv. Up to 18 people can be seated around the table, or up to 35 people in a theatre configuration. Services include a first-rate projector, a "barcode" for presentation purposes.
