We are excited to announce that Moovit, creator behind the #1 commuter app, has joined the Israel-America Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Israel) as a member and will serve as a founding partner of our newly established Carbon Market Forum.

In an era of urgent climate action, sectors beyond energy are stepping up. Transportation accounts for a significant share of greenhouse gas emissions globally, and Moovit is tackling that challenge head-on. Their innovative decarbonization approach links everyday mobility choices to measurable carbon emissions reductions, turning conventional public and shared transit trips into a climate-impact opportunity.

The project: Moovit’s Low Carbon Commute Project

In August 2025, the Moovit Low Carbon Commute Project” was officially launched in the U.S.. Moovit enables its American commuters to make more sustainable travel choices that reduce greenhouse gas emissions. These reductions are then monitored and quantified to ultimately generate verified carbon credits.

Key elements of the project include:

  • Moovit now displays greenhouse-gas (GHG) emissions of suggested public transit, shared mobility or walking routes to give users a clearer picture of their climate impact.
  • The emissions reductions from qualifying low-carbon trips are quantified and, once verified, converted into carbon credits. Each credit equals one metric ton of COe avoided.
  • The initiative is registered with the CSA CleanProjects® Registry (Project ID 7539-742)

What makes it special:

  • Scalable user base: With more than 1.5 billion users across 112 countries, Moovit has a broad platform to facilitate behavior change at scale.
  • Real-time measurement & verification: Using Greenlines’ patented Mobility Carbon Engine (MCE™), the project tracks trip-by-trip data, quantifies emission reductions, and ensures verification integrity.
  • Corporate pathways: Beyond individual commuters, the project opens a window for businesses to offset their Scope 1, 2 or 3 emissions by acquiring verified credits generated by user behavior.

Why this aligns with AmCham Israel’s ambitions:

AmCham Israel’s Carbon Market Forum is designed to build an ecosystem in Israel at the intersection of business, policy and innovation. Moovit’s entry is a strong signal for mobility-tech and climate-action convergence.

By partnering with Moovit, we enhance our forum’s mandate and signal to our members and ecosystem that Israel is open for global climate-innovation collaboration.
